I take 60 mins to complete task 2. What can I do?

Since you are taking 60 mins, it's likely that you are lacking in more than one area. This is what I suggest you do to reduce the time you are taking.

1) Get as many authentic task 2s as you can.

2) Analyse the requirements for the question (how many parts need to be addressed.)

3) Brainstorm as many positions (opinions) as you can for the question.

4) Choose the position you have the most ideas for.

5 Write your thesis statement (answer to the question in the introduction), main ideas and examples.

6) Lay out a structure for your essay

7) Brainstorm as many synonyms, antonyms, and forms of the words in the question as you can.

8) Start with another question and repeat the process.

What this will do is it will speed up your planning process. this is more than half of the task. If you can do all this in less than 20 mins, you wil be able to finish before the 40 mins are up. Most students waste time because they start without a plan and they lose focus. Once they get stuckk half way, they don't know how to get out of the mess they are in and it's too late.
